Today i am going to share with you, 23 vinegar cleaning hacks to clean just about anything in your home!

Vinegar is an amazing disinfectant that cuts through stubborn grease, hard water, can be used as a deodorant and they are very budget friendly.

In fact,

I've been able to replace 95% of my household cleaners with just vinegar plus a mix of some ingredients and i don't feel guilty when i overuse them.

1. Make your Fridge Smell Brand New

if you have been using baking soda to absorb the smells in your fridge

Chances are, they don't work anymore.

Here's what you can do:

Simply mix one part of vinegar plus one part warm water into a spray bottle and spray the shelves and door and wipe clean with a dishcloth or sponge.

Tip: if you prefer a stronger solution, just increase the amount of vinegar to 2 parts vinegar 1 part water.

 

2. Eliminate Soap Scum on Shower Glass 

Having hard water buildup or soap scums on your glass shower doors?

Those unsightly soap scum looks depressing and can have negative impact on your mood.

But as always, vinegar to the rescue!

Create a spray by filling it with vinegar and adding 1 tsp of dish soap.

Spray the glass liberally and use a sponge to wipe and spread the solution.

Allow the solution to sit for at least 20 minutes before rinsing off with water.

3. Sparkle Your Faucet

Have stubborn calcium buildup on your faucets that is impossible to clean?

Wrap kitchen towel around the affected areas on your faucet and pour vinegar directly onto the paper towel until it's soaking wet.

Let the vinegar sit for about 1-3 hours before removing the towel and scrubbing the remaining lime buildup with a used toothbrush.

Rinse and dry the faucet.

If you have trouble removing the lime buildup, let it soak for another hour and it should come off pretty easily.

 

4. Clean Your Coffee Maker

Vinegar is great at removing coffee stains

Run a mixture of equal parts of water and vinegar through the coffee maker.

Allow the mixture to sit in the coffee pot for about 20 minutes before scrubbing gently with a brush.

Run 2 cycles of regular water to flush out the remaining vinegar before brewing again.

Tip: If you have tough water marks that is hard to remove, add some baking soda and scrub.

 

5. Make your Cutleries Shine Again

As cutlery start to dull out and lose its shine due to hard water exposure, you can use vinegar to make it sparkle again.

Combine 2 cups of boiling water with a cup of vinegar in a large bowl.

Place your cutleries into the bowl and leave them to soak overnight.

On the next day, rinse and dry them with a microfiber cloth and your cutleries will looks just like new!

 

6. Clean Your Leather Furniture

Unlike leather cleaners, vinegar is gentle and more affordable and is just as effective.

Vacuum Clean your leather furniture to remove any dirt and debris.

Combine equal parts of water and vinegar into a spray bottle

Spray the solution on your furniture and wipe it down with a microfiber cloth before drying with a clean towel

 

7. Eliminate Stubborn Microwave Stains

Finding it hard to get rid of hard stains in the microwave oven?

Mix equal parts of water and vinegar into a microwave safe bowl and place it into the oven,

Leave it on high setting for 6 minutes.

In the meantime the vinegar mixture turns into steam which helps dissolve the tough stains for easy cleaning.

You should find it very easy to clean off the stains.

Tip: You may want to add a few drops of citrus essential oil for better results.

 

8. Clean Your Wood Floors

Floor cleaners are expensive and unsustainable and they are not the best cleaning agent for your floors.

Vinegar helps to break down grease and dirt on wooden floors much more effectively.

Just add 2 cups of vinegar to a gallon of water the next time you mop the floor and you'll see the difference.

Plus, it's more economically feasible if you mop the floor frequently.

 

9. Unclog Your Shower Head

Lime buildup can cause your shower heads to get clogged which, affects the flow and quality of the water coming out.

Here's what you can do:

Add warm vinegar into a plastic bag and tie it over the showerhead with a rubber band so that it's fully soaked.

The vinegar works to dissolve all the calcium buildup which unclogs the shower head

Leave it overnight before wiping clean to be used again.

 

10. Deodorize the Bathroom

Do you have nasty pee stench in your toilet?

Add non diluted vinegar into a spray bottle with a few drop of detergent or essential oil.

Spray the toilet bowl area and the nasty bathroom stench will be gone within minutes.

 

11. Get Rid of Weeds

If you have weeds growing in the cracks of your walkway and driveway.

Create a spray with white vinegar as the sole ingredient.

Spray at the roots of the weed and they should quickly start to dry out.

For stubborn weeds, add regular table salt into warm vinegar solution.

 

12. Revive Droopy Flowers

is your flower starting to droop?

Don't throw them out yet!

Try adding 2 cups of water, 2 tbsp of vinegar and 1 tsp of sugar to your flower vase.

 

13. Clean & Soften Used Paint Brush

Is your paint brush hard and sticky even after washing? Before throwing them out you should try this...

Place your brushes into a old used pan and heat the pan with white vinegar before it begins to boil.

Then allow the brushes to soak for about 15 minutes before washing with warm water and soap.

Your brush should feel like new and you don't have to waste money buying another one!

 

14. Make Your Blender Look New Again

After multiple uses, your blender will start to look old and cloudy due to buildup of hard water stains.

Here's a quick fix:

Fill the blender with warm water until it is half full, add a cup of vinegar and a few drops of dish soap.

Leave the blender running for 2 minutes and rinse it clean.

You should be able to see through the blender, just like when you used it for the first time.

 

15. Clean out Your Dishwasher

Vinegar does a great job at keeping your dishwasher clean,

It prevents hard water stains from getting on your dishes and gives your dishwasher a through cleanse.

Clean out the dishwasher components first then, add 2 cups of white vinegar to the bottom dishwasher before running an empty cycle.

 

16. Remove Sticker Residues

Having trouble peeling and scratching off the price tag and stickers?

Here's what you can do instead:

Apply vinegar to the sticky area and let it sit for 5 minutes before easily removing the glue.

It works every time!

 

17. Wash Vegetables Effectively

Fresh vegetables often comes with pesticides and bacteria that we don't want and water simply isn't enough to remove them.

Here's what you can do:

Give your vegetables a rinse before transferring them into a container.

Pour vinegar into the container until the vegetable is fully submerged, allowing it to soak for a few minutes.

Clean the vegetables and rinse with water before letting it drain dry.

 

18. Soften Your Fabrics

Ran out of fabric softeners? Allergic to them? Or find them too expensive?

You can use vinegar to achieve the same effect without the side effects!

Here's a simple way to do it:

Just before the rinse cycle phase, add 3-5 cups of vinegar according to the amount of load.

That's it! You'll have softer fabrics that's free of odour.

 

19. Clean Your Oven Naturally

Don't want to buy chemicals just to clean the oven?

Here's what you can do instead:

First, make some baking soda paste by adding water, apply it to your oven and allow it to sit overnight.

On the next day, spray the oven with vinegar and wipe with a damp cloth.

 

20. Create Your own Multi-Purpose Spray

Multi purpose spray are costly and unsustainable both economically and environmentally.

So let's make our own spray!

Combine equal parts of water and vinegar into a spray bottle and add a few drops of detergent.

Use this spray to remove lime build ups on your faucet stainless steel, melt stove top grease, as a deodorant and cleaning the floor.

Just take note to avoid marble and aluminium surfaces.

 

21. Freshen up Your Carpet

No more scrubbing away at carpet stains and tolerating bad odors that comes out from it.

Combine one part vinegar with 2 parts of water with a tablespoon of baking soda into a spray bottle.

Spray the stained area or the entire carpet and allow it to dry.

After drying, vacuum the carpet and you'll find that the smell has disappeared.

 

22. Create Your Air Freshener

If you want to ditch the aerosol spray but don't know what to use then, here's how you can make one.

Combine 2 parts water with 1 part vinegar into a spray bottle and add citrus essential oil if you like.

This DIY spray is environmentally friendly, much healthier and very pocket friendly

 

23. Make Your Windows Shine

Is your window always cloudy and lack shine?

Simply create a spray with equal parts of water and vinegar.

Mist it over your windows, allowing it to sit for 5-10 minutes before wiping clean with a microfiber cloth or newspaper to prevent water mark

Avoid using regular cloth as they can leave residue behind.

You can use a window squeegee if you like.
